News from IARC

To address this, the North Slope Science Initiative (NSSI) implemented the Scenarios Project to help natural resource management agencies better direct research and monitor change in the Arctic using a scenarios framework.
A UAF research project led by IARC’s Katey Walter Anthony has provided the first modern evidence of a landscape-level permafrost carbon feedback, in which thawing permafrost releases ancient carbon as climate-warming greenhouse gases. The study was published today in the journal Nature Geoscience.
IARC Director Hajo Eicken recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Dr. Sei-Ichi Saito, Director of Hokkaido University’s new Arctic Research Center (HU-ARC), located in Sapporo, Japan.
