Indigenous scholarship and education: Visions and initiatives at ASU and UAF
Monday, Mar 27, 2023 at 10:30 am – 11:30 am
The International Arctic Research Center is honored to host a conversation with UAF Alaska Native scholars and our partners at Arizona State University for a fireside-style chat about Indigenous scholarship and education. The discussion will focus on current initiatives at both institutions and visions for the future. The speakers include Charlene Stern, UAF Vice Chancellor for Rural, Community and Native Education and Bryan Brayboy, ASU Vice President for Social Advancement. Malinda Chase, Tribal liaison at the Alaska Climate Adaptation Science Center will moderate the conversation. Brayboy will discuss ASU’s vision for Indigenous scholarship and related initiatives. Stern will share about UAF’s Troth Yeddha’ and the Alaska Native Success Initiative. After short remarks by Stern and Brayboy, Chase will join them for a conversation.
Please join us in the Elvey Auditorium or virtually. This is a part of a larger workshop between UAF and ASU on future possibilities for collaboration on Indigenous scholarship and related initiatives building on IARC’s partnership with ASU’ Global Futures Laboratory.
