Join the International Arctic Research Center for the March IARC Salon. This month’s discussion is with Nathan Kettle, Carl Schmitt, Christi Buffington and Kaila Banister on air and snow quality research in Fairbanks.
Nathan Kettle (Research Associate Professor, UAF International Arctic Research Center) will discuss a cross community analysis of public policy preferences for addressing wood smoke in the sub arctic.
Carl Schmitt (Research Professor, UAF Geophysical Institute) will speak about a study on the impact of air pollution on snow during an ice fog event in Fairbanks.
We will share portions of a pre-recorded talk by Christi Buffington (Science Education Specialist, UAF International Arctic Research Center), Kaila Banister (UAF undergraduate and NASA SnowEX intern), and Carrie Vuyovich (NASA Research Scientist) on their mentorship and internship experiences with NASA SnowEx.
This semester’s IARC salon graduate student coordinators are PhD students Michael Lundberg and Addie Norgaard. Michael studies Arctic atmospheric and physical oceanographic processes. Addie is in oceanography studying inorganic carbon dynamics in the Gulf of Alaska.
