Ed Plumb is a Weather and Flood Specialist with the Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Preparedness (ACCAP), where he works on weather and flood related preparedness, resilience, and extreme events across Alaska. He spent nearly 30 years with the National Weather Service (NWS) Alaska Region in roles including Coastal Flood and Marine Program Manager, Senior Service Hydrologist, and Warning Coordination Meteorologist. He’s passionate about connecting science with lived experience and making sure weather, climate, and hazard information is actionable, locally relevant, and respectful of Tribal knowledge systems. Over his career, he’s worked closely with Tribes, local governments, and emergency managers to support actionable decision-making aimed at protecting lives, property, and livelihoods.
