This semester’s IARC salon graduate student coordinators are Cece Borries-Strigle and Nicholas Parlato. Cece is a PhD student in Atmospheric Sciences researching seasonal forecasting with an emphasis on wildfires in Alaska and Arctic sea ice. During this year’s IARC salons, Cece is excited to discuss diversity, international relations, and how the research culture is changing (for better or worse) for both UAF and the world in general. Nicholas is an interdisciplinary PhD student researching equity and cosmopolitanism in the development of maritime infrastructure in the Bering Strait region. He is looking forward to salon discussions about science diplomacy, scientific-Indigenous collaboration, and navigating COVID in Arctic research.
