S.T. Lee Fellowship Presentation: Climate solutions for Pacific Island resilience

Aug 3, 2022 at 9:00 am 10:00 am

Title: Climate Solutions for Pacific Island Resilience – the Pacific RISA Program

Description: Laura Brewington (Arizona State University, the East-West Center) will provide an introduction to the Pacific Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program, one of 11 NOAA RISA programs in the United States focused on regional climate science and adaptation. Now in its 16th year, the Pacific RISA is generating equitable climate solutions in Hawaii and the US-Affiliated Pacific Islands through stakeholder-driven research and applications. Following an overview of the program, Brewington will share some of Pacific RISA’s current work and potential synergies with climate research programs in Alaska and the Arctic.

This is a S.T. Lee Fellowship presentation. The S.T. Lee lecture program is a partnership between IARC and the Antarctic Research Centre, Victoria University of Wellington. The program supports visiting lecturers between the two institutions to promote the exchange of knowledge and ideas between Arctic and Antarctic focused research. The S.T. Lee Lecture was established by Singaporean philanthropist Lee Seng Tee.

This lecture is in person in Akasofu 401 or register to attend virtually.
