IARC Salon: Climate challenges for Arctic infrastructure

Join the International Arctic Research Center for this semester’s first IARC Salon. November’s panelists Donald Walker and Torre Jorgenson will discuss climate challenges for Arctic infrastructure.
Donald Walker is a professor of biology at UAF, whose involvement in Arctic-related research studies is extensive. One of this panelist’s many research interests is the impact of infrastructure and climate change on Arctic ecosystems and landscapes.
Torre Jorgenson is the owner of Alaska Ecoscience, a company providing research expertise on subjects such as the sustainable development of Arctic and Boreal landscapes. The panelist is affiliated with several UAF faculties, and has been involved with Alaska infrastructure projects and environmental surveys for many decades.

This semester’s IARC salon graduate student coordinators are PhD students Michael Lundberg and Addie Norgaard. Michael studies Arctic atmospheric and physical oceanographic processes. Addie is in oceanography studying inorganic carbon dynamics in the Gulf of Alaska.
