Climate Soundscapes I – music on the science of climate change
Nov 18, 2022 at 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
If climate change had music, what would it sound like? International Arctic Research Center scientists have teamed up with the Juneau Composers Consortium and Con Brio Chamber Series for Climate Soundscapes, a unique program of new works by Juneau-based composers, interpreting the research of climate scientists from UAS and UAF.
The performances are:
Friday, November 18 at 7:30pm – Ḵunéix̱ Hídi Northern Light United Church
Saturday, November 19 at 2:00pm – Atrium at the APK
Admission is Pay-As-You-Can
To learn more about the science behind the music, join us at Amalga Distillery following the Saturday performance, where a “Climate-themed cocktail” will be unveiled, and scientists will be on hand to discuss their research!
IARC’s Joanna Young, Olivia Lee and Vladimir Alexeev also will give a science talk at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at the University of Alaska Southeast’s Egan Lecture Hall.
