SUMMARY:Introduction to IARPC: Collaborating to Enhance Arctic Research
DESCRIPTION:The Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee (IARPC) brings together leaders from 18 federal agencies\, departments\, and offices around shared Arctic research priorities. IARPC also supports IARPC Collaborations\, a platform connecting federal and non-federal researchers\, Arctic communities\, and other partners to work together on pressing Arctic research issues. \nThis webinar will provide an introduction to IARPC followed by a series of short lightning talks offering a sampling of the research\, collaboration\, and community engagement happening across the program. Together\, these lightning talks will provide a quick look at the breadth of work underway across IARPC and highlight opportunities for researchers\, communities\, and others to connect\, collaborate\, and get involved. Hear from IARPC team and community of practice co-leads working in: Terrestrial Ecosystems\, Permafrost Community of Practice\, Arctic Systems Interactions\, Coastal Resilience\, Technology Innovation and Application\, Tribal Consultation and Effective Processes\, and Risk Management and Hazard Mitigation Collaboration Team \n\nRegister for Webinar\n\n\nSpeakers: \nIARPC SecretariatToni O’Boyle\, Director of IARPC Collaboration Team Activities\, IARPC Secretariat \nTerrestrial Ecosystems Community of PracticeElizabeth (Liz) Hoy\, Senior Support Scientist\, Global Science and Technology\, Inc.\, NASA Carbon Cycle and Ecosystems Office at NASA Goddard Space Flight CenterMike Loranty\, Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies and Department of Geography Chair\, Colgate University \nPermafrost Community of PracticeAsisaun Toovak\, Mayor\, City of Utqiagvik \nArctic Systems Interactions Collaboration TeamHailong Wang\, Earth Scientist\, Pacific Northwest National LaboratoryZhuo Wang\, Professor\, Department of Climate\, Meteorology & Atmospheric Sciences\, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign \nCoastal Resilience Community of PracticeChristina Bonsell\, Marine Ecologist\, Marine Minerals Administration\, Alaska RegionTahzay Jones\, Native Affairs Specialist\, Native Affairs Program\, U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceTom Ravens\, Professor of Civil Engineering\, University of Alaska Anchorage \nTechnology Innovation and Application Collaboration TeamLisa Sheffield Guy\, Scientific Program Manager\, Alaska Ocean Observing System \nTribal Consultation and Effective Processes Collaboration TeamCana Uluak Itchuaqiyaq\, Associate Professor\, Technical & Scientific Communication; Director\, Center for Sustainable Engagement in the Arctic\, Virginia TechTara Corpuz\, Research Assistant\, IARPC Arctic Community Leaders Fellow\, and Brown University History PhD Student \nRisk Management and Hazard Mitigation Collaboration TeamSandy Starkweather\, Executive Director\, US Arctic Observing Network
