Greetings from the Far North!
Kirkenes is a small town of about 3,600 residents located in far northeastern Norway, located even further North than the Arctic Circle, close to the Finnish and Russian borders.
This video shows a little of what Kirkenes looks like. It was made by HSS, a shipping company that handles the NABOS expedition. They deal with logistics, crew changes, support, and supply for Arctic projects.
Arkhangelsk is a Russian city of almost 350,000. It’s located in the mouth of the Severnaya (North) Dvina River, about 40 km from the White Sea.
This city is the point of departure for Arctic expeditions heading into the eastern Arctic, and is also a key port for developing trade between Russia and China.
