Earth Day at Your Library

Sunday, April 23, 2017 | 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm, Noel Wien Library Auditorium

All activities will be led by UAF scientists and educators:

  • GLOBE Observer Citizen Science– Participants will work with a UAF scientist to collect data on clouds in conjunction with libraries all over the nation using the new GLOBE Observer App.
  • Cloud Art and Science– Learn how to estimate cloud cover using by creating your own cloud artwork. Work with a scientist to create a cloud in a bottle and investigate winter air pollution in Fairbanks.
  • Earth and Climate Change Games– participants play and learn more about climate change and the way things like sea ice, permafrost, fire, and temperature interact to change the earth.
  • Augmented Reality Sandbox– Explore connections between land, clouds, and water using an augmented reality sandbox. Make mountains out of real sand, wave your hand to make a virtual cloud and watch what happens to the rain and water on the landscape you created.
